Cherry Almond Oatmeal Cookies

Cherry Almond Oatmeal Cookies _2

I have a serious problem with good deals at the grocery store.  When I find a good deal, I can’t leave it there.  Luckily, I don’t have the same problem with other things, like clothes or shoes, just food.  Probably because I get so much more enjoyment out of food.  Well, a few weeks ago I found a great deal on dried cherries.  After much deliberation, I decided that cookies were the answer to my deal find. Cherry almond oatmeal cookies that is. Continue reading

Football Food for Super Bowl Sunday

Football Food

I love watching football all season long.  Football Sundays are cherished for us when the fall rolls around.  It is special because there are so few games to the season, in comparison to other sports.  We huddle around the couch, spending time together enjoying copious amounts of football food! I love to experiment with all kinds of foods, finding the most fun and creative to eat for those special days!   Continue reading

Smoked Fish Dip

Smoked Fish Dip with Toast Points

Smoked fish is a favorite of mine.  I use it in many dishes because it is so rich and salty, it has the ability to make almost anything taste rich as well.  When you add smoked fish to something rich and creamy, it becomes over the top! Continue reading

Beer Battered Buffalo Cauliflower

Beer Battered Buffalor Cauliflower by Alison's AllspiceSpicy buffalo sauce is one of my favorite flavors.  I mentioned this in my post for Buffalo Queso Dip.  Experimenting with food is kind-of a food bloggers job, and I will experiment all day with buffalo sauce!  And please don’t think I’m kidding.  Good hot sauce can belong on breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Or on this appetizer, Beer Battered Buffalo Cauliflower! Toasted Ravioli with Homemade Dipping Sauce

Toasted RavioliI love foods you can dip.  Ok, maybe I just love finger foods and eating with my hands.  I feel like a kid again.  Or maybe it’s the dip.  Dips add another dimension of flavor and texture to the food.  I love dips!  Whatever your reason to dig in with your hands, this recipe has it all.  Crunchy coating and savory sauce.  Dig in!

Buffalo Queso Dip

This dip is a riff on Buffalo Chicken Dip.  Buffalo is one of my favorite flavors that I miss.  This dip is an awesome way to enjoy it.  I am planning on making it to celebrate the last regular season football game coming up this Saturday, but it would work well at a new years eve celebration as well!

Easy Guacamole

This recipe is my favorite.  I mean it, I am so excited to share this recipe.  Guacamole is something that should be easy to make.  And this recipe is delicious as well.  I made this recipe by testing time and time again, until I came up with the perfect combination.  I stock all the ingredients, except the avocado, in my pantry so I can whip it up at any time!

Honey Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cereal Bars

When I was a kid, scotcheroos were a thing.  Way bigger and cooler than the rice crispy treat.  In my adult days, I tend not to indulge in such treats because of their effect on my waistline.  With these bars I decided to make an exception.  They are my adult version of scotcheroos. I made the ingredients a little more wholesome, and the process a little more simple.

Homemade Dill Pickles with Jalapenos

Pickles are a favorite snack of mine.  They are crunchy, briny and full of flavor, but light and not calorie ridden.  Its funny to me that pickled cucumbers are known as pickles, because you can pickle just about any vegetable.  I love to pickle peppers, asparagus, and okra! Try these homemade dill pickles with jalapenos!Homemade dill pickles with jalapenos

Whole Wheat Chocolate Zucchini Muffins

I wasn’t kidding the other day when I said I was trying to get my fill of zucchini before the season is over.  I’m even putting it in my desserts!  Ha!  If you have never tried zucchini in a baked good, like zucchini bread, or these chocolate muffins, you’re missing out.   The zucchini keeps these muffins moist, which is important to consider when baking with whole wheat flour.
