Homemade Pizza Sauce from Tomato Sauce

Pizza Sauce can be made in many ways, but this homemade pizza sauce from tomato sauce is my favorite! Simmer for one hour and devour on your favorite pizza!

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS olive oil or butter, or a combo
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp each: basil and oregano (dried)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flake
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup vegetable broth (or broth of choice)
  • 2 TBS each: nutritional yeast and tomato paste
  • 1 TBS white sugar or honey

Instructions

  1. Combine olive oil (or butter, if using) with garlic is a medium pot over medium heat. Saute until garlic just starts to turn golden. Mix in onion powder, basil, oregano, and red pepper flake. Let the seasonings toast for about 1 minute.
  2. Mix in tomato sauce, broth, nutritional yeast, tomato paste, and sugar or honey.
  3. Let this simmer for about 1 hour, partially covered stirring every 10 minutes.
