Shrimp Pad Thai

Shrimp Pad Thai by Alison's AllspiceLast week I posted my favorite new pad Thai sauce recipe, so this week I am sharing a shrimp pad Thai recipe to go with it!

I eat vegetarian more often than I eat fish and seafood, so I also make this same recipe without the shrimp and love that version just as much.  The tofu adds plenty of protein, and the noodles keep the dish quite filling. Continue reading

Cherry Tomato Chickpea and Shrimp Sheet Pan Dinner

Cherry Tomato Chickpea and Shrimp Sheet Pan Dinner by Alison's AllspiceThe end of tomato season is just about here for my garden, which means that now is the time that my tomatoes are the most abundant.  We put this cherry tomato chickpea and shrimp sheet pan dinner on the rotation several times before I got it just right.

First, I tried the recipe without the shrimp for a vegetarian version and I felt like it was missing some texture.  I pondered for days about what vegetable to add before I decided to try shrimp instead. Continue reading

Grilled Shrimp Tostadas

Grilled Shrimp Tostadas by Alison's AllspiceWhen I get out my charcoal grill, I don’t like to go back and forth between the house and the grill.  Instead, I just cook everything on the grill.  In this grilled shrimp tostadas recipe, you will grill both the shrimp and the corn tortillas to make the crispy tostada shell.

I find grilling shrimp on a stick much easier than one-by-one, and kabob sticks take up much less space than a grilling basket when it comes to storage. Continue reading

Pesto Shrimp and Snap Pea Couscous Bowls

Pesto Shrimp and Snap Pea Couscous Bowls by Alison's AllspiceMy snap pea plants stopped producing about two weeks ago, which means I have been experimenting with snap pea recipes to use up my harvest.  These pesto shrimp and snap pea couscous bowls are a favorite because they are quick and easy.

Couscous is an ingredient I don’t cook with a lot, but it deserves more attention because it is so easy and fast to make.  All you have to do is bring water to a boil, then wait 5 minutes for the couscous to absorb. Continue reading

Homemade Shrimp Stock

Homemade Shrimp Stock by Alison's AllspiceI have been making homemade shrimp stock for years because it is inexpensive to make and adds delicious flavors to my home-cooked recipes.  It is also a great way to use shrimp shells that usually get tossed. Continue reading

Cherry Tomato Shrimp and Grits

Cherry Tomato Shrimp and Grits by Alison's AllspiceShrimp and grits is one of the classic southern dishes that can be made so many different ways that no two recipes are alike.  I always try to add some vegetables for good measure, and these cherry tomato shrimp and grits are by far my favorite!

I have also tried shrimp and grits with mushrooms and with red bell pepper.  Both were delicious in their own right, but the sweet cherry tomatoes really compliment the sweetness of the shrimp and the sweetness of the corn. Continue reading

Ginger Peach Habanero Shrimp Kabobs

Ginger Peach Habanero Shrimp Kabobs by Alison's AllspiceFriends, today I am very excited to share a new product with you that I have been in love with.  Fired Up Jellies and Jams is a popular local brand that makes amazing jellies/jams with habanero peppers.  I used their peach version to make these ginger peach habanero shrimp kabobs.

The Cinnful Peach Habanero Jam is made with a vietnamese cinnamon that is quite different from the kind you might put into your favorite baked goods.  Peaches and ginger are a match made in heaven, and the spicy cinnamon compliments them both. Continue reading

Grilled Shrimp with Creamy Cocktail Sauce (Marie Rose)

Grilled Shrimp with Creamy Cocktail Sauce (Marie Rose Sauce) by Alison's AllspiceDinner at my house tonight is going to be grilled shrimp with creamy cocktail sauce!  The creamy cocktail sauce is a condiment from the UK also known as Marie Rose sauce.

I discovered this sauce/dip once when I was serving cold cocktail shrimp and totally overlooked the idea something to dip them in.  I went searching the internet for a simple dip that I could whip up from pantry ingredients and I have been making this sauce ever since! Continue reading

Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Stew

Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Stew by Alison's AllspiceThis Brazilian coconut shrimp stew is traditionally called moqueca.  It can be made with fish or various types of seafood.  I decided to try this dish because I loved the look of the creamy coconut with the rich seafood.

In my version I only used shirmp and not multiple types of seafood.  This simplified the dish to be something that I could make with mostly pantry staples and frozen shirmp. Continue reading

Easy Shrimp Noodles with Cilantro

Easy Shrimp Noodles with Cilantro by Alison's AllspiceSometimes when I see special ingredients, I get super exicted about finding a fun new way to use them.  I found these forbidden rice noodles, and knew that they would be perfect for these easy shrimp noodles with cilantro!

You can certainly make this recipe with any kind of noodle.  The flavor won’t be that different, but I do like the contrast that it adds to the dish.  The pink shrimp look so inviting on the black noodles! Continue reading
